The frame of the Garden Seeder itself is made of steel, while the handles are made of wood and comfortable to hold. The wheels are the same as the wheel hoe in steel and quite narrow. However, the machine's seed bowl is a new idea. The size is round 12.5 cm in diameter. height 5 cm. Volume about 0.7 liters. Like so many other seed drills, it has brushes that carry seeds to a discharge hole. Can sow most of the seed, but can be a little varied towards the end.
In this case, the feeding takes place horizontally. When you have finished sowing, you can loosen the entire bowl, while making sure that no seed can fall out at the bottom. as you want. You can very well make output discs for individual batches. It's that simple and cheap. There are two plastic discs in different thicknesses, one in metal for small seeds.
For me, it is also a great advantage that the seed drill, wheel hoe, and irrigation parts are a system that is well thought out. It struck me how sensible and simple the system is. Unfortunately, shipping to Sweden means that the machine may not be as affordable as it is in the USA. But look at the whole picture and calculate what the whole system costs. Despite the high cost of shipping from the USA, you get a lot for your money.
The machine has two equally large metal wheels 37.5 cm in diameter. The seed falls into a gutter that two rotating discs make in the soil. Sowing depth max 4 cm. This is a gentle gutter, which is adapted so that you can first put down drip irrigation and then over it if desired.
A chain pulls over and covers the soil immediately after sowing. Then if you want a more powerful coverage, you also let the machine support drag over the ground. If you want, the support can be folded up.
The support is a good feature that allows you to put the machine away. Using the row cursor can also provide support.
Advantages disadvantages
+ We think the very best thing about this seed drill is the ease of making extra special discs for feeding. + Small amounts of seeds can be sown and emptied by removing the seed container for emptying.
- Sowing depth max 4 cm. A little shallow. You can get deeper by first pulling a shallow gutter with the wheel hoe's small cup log.
- There is a warning not to tighten the brush too hard. It may stop or reduce the output. So you should let it run quite easily. Then, however, it can sometimes pass two seeds. A bit the same phenomenon as with Sembdner and Six Row Seeder. The setting of the brush thus plays a certain role.
